ESG

ESG

ISO Certification logo Sustainability is vital to the success of our business. At Motus, that means our leaders, our team members, and our contractors share the responsibility of continually improving our sustainability performance. We know that Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (“ESG”) initiatives matter. To that end, we work hard every day to provide a safe, responsible, and ethical work environment that promotes a strong culture being a good corporate citizen.

The following is the foundation of how Motus approaches ESG:

Environmental

We:

  • Integrate environmental stewardship into our business goals and objectives, as well as our day-to-day decisions.
  • Are focused on being a responsible operator that is committed to excellence in safety and places a priority on our employees, the community, and the environment.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to comply with all environmental requirements.
  • Believe in providing reliable and affordable energy that not only minimizes our environmental impact but improves people’s quality of life.

Social

We are:

  • Committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work through volunteer hours and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Inclusive, without prejudice to race, gender, age, religion, disability, or ethnicity.
  • Operate ethically and in a socially responsible way, protecting our employees, the communities around our operations and the environment.
  • Promote a healthy work life balance that is supportive of our employees’ needs.

Governance

We:

  • Believe in trust and transparency with our employees, customers, vendors, partners, capital providers, and all other stakeholders.
  • Are committed to a sustainable investment strategy, adhering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as our guidepost.
  • Are compliant with all local, state and federal rules, laws and regulations.
  • Act as an ethical corporate governance team with a sound policy to risk management and through good communication and accountability.

Sustainable Development Goals

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Serving our Community

At the heart of our company is a strong commitment to serve others. Our team members are encouraged to support organizations and causes that make positive impacts in the communities where we live and work. Additionally, as a company, Motus holds several volunteer days providing employees with opportunities to give back, most recently spending time at the San Antonio Food Bank and Putegnat Elementary and recognizing the first responders supporting Motus for Fire Prevention Month.

Fire Prevention Month

In October 2024, Motus coordinated an inaugural event for Fire Prevention Month to honor the brave firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect us and to reaffirm the importance of fire safety and preparedness.

We invited Brownsville’s Fire Station #8’s three crews to join us for a fish fry and conduct a thorough walkthrough of our facility, reviewing points of interest at our terminals and testing available water sources. We also invited the Harbor Master Office and our Port Police to join.

We had great crowds and great food for three days. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of Lt. Armando Vasquez of Fire Station #8, Chief Garza and the Brownsville Fire Marshall’s Office assistance in coordinating the safety walkthroughs.

Motus Volunteer Day

Motus Volunteer Day

On April 10th, a group of 15 Motus employees including the executive team and terminal operations team volunteered for half of a day at the Rio Grand Valley Food Bank. They worked in an assembly line to put together boxes of food for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. The Commodity Supplemental Food Program is locally known as the “Senior Box Program” (box of packed food is picture) and is specifically available to senior citizens in Cameron County.
