Mr. Gruener is Chief Executive Officer of Motus Energy LLC and also serves on the board of Motus Energy LLC and VH Midstream LLC. Mr. Gruener co-founded Motus Energy LLC with the objective of delivering innovative solutions to effect the energy transition. 

He has held CEO, COO and Executive Management roles in the Energy, Technology, and Manufacturing sectors, at both private and public companies. Prior to Motus Energy, Mr. Gruener founded Metrix Energy LLC, an early entrant physical trader and exporter of petroleum products into the nascent privatized Mexico energy market. Previously, he was founder and CEO of Itero Energy, Inc., which designed innovative processing facilities and logistics to achieve highly efficient reclamation, recycling, and remediation of crude oil from off-specification inventories and petroleum waste streams. Mr. Gruener sold Itero in 2013 to Energy Spectrum Capital, a Dallas, Texas-based private equity firm.

Mr. Gruener has also developed state of the art manufacturing facilities in Texas and California, and in his earlier technology career was the Chief Operating Officer of publicly traded Cybergold, Inc. Cybergold’s 160 technology employees developed one of the internet’s first online cash systems, which then merged with MyPoints.com into a 400-employee enterprise, and subsequently was acquired by United Airlines.

Mr. Gruener holds a B.S. degree in Economics/System Science from UCLA.
